At the request of Maria Reid this Deed was recorded October 5th, 1864.
This Deed made this 13th day of July in the year eighteen hundred and sixty 
four by me, Samuel P. Smith, trustee. Witnesseth whereas by an order of the 
Circuit Court for Allegany County, Maryland passed on the 10th day of December 
in the year eighteen hundred sixty in the matter of petition of Thomas A. 
Wealey agains his creditors, I, the said Samuel P. Smith was appointed trustee 
for the benefit of the creditors of said Thomas A. Wealey and have sold a part 
of the land ordered to be sold to Maria Reid at and for the sum of five 
hundred and ten dollars, who has fully paid the purchase money therefore. And 
whereas my report as trustee, filed in the said case on the 12th day of May 
1863 states that the land herinafter described was sold to Mary wife of George 
M. Reid, and whereas the said Maria and Mary is one and the same person. Now 
therefore, in consideration of the premisis, I, the said Samuel P. Smith do 
grant unto the said Maria Reid all that lot or parcel of ground lying and 
being in the City of Cumberland in Allegany County and the State of Maryland, 
being part of lot and tract of land called Walnut Bottom, beginning for said 
lot or parcel of ground at a stone standing at the corner of the house in 
which Martin Rizer deceased formerly resided, which stone is marked M.R. and 
stands on the south side on the the road leading from the town of Cumberland 
to the Mill formerly the property of James Scott and running thence with said 
road, South 38 1/2 degrees East, 60 feet to a stone, thence leaving the said 
road South 62 degrees West, 280 feet to a large Sycamore stump on the bank of 
the second gert from the aforesaid road or street now Mechanic Street then up 
the bank of said gert, North 20 1/2 degrees, West 60 feet to the lot formerly 
owned by Cutler, then with a straight line to the beginning, together with the 
buildings and improvements thereon. Witness my hand and seal.

                    Allegany County to wit: I hereby certify, that on this 
thirteenth day of July, in the year eighteen hndred and sixty four before the 
subscriber a Justice of the Peace of Maryland in and for Allegany County, 
personally appeared Samuel P. Smith, trustee, and acknowledged the foregoing 
deed to be his act.
