Monday from St. Gabriel's Church, where a requiem mass was sung by the Rev. James Quinn. The remains were followed to the grave by a long procession of relatives and friends. Mr. O'Toole served as a teamster in the Union army nearly four years and was with McClellan's army in front of Richmond. He had several narrow escapes from capture. After the war he joined his family in Barton, where he has since been respected as one of its best citizens. Few people knew that he had served with the army, as he was not given to talk on that subject, and never mentioned it save to some old soldier, to whom he would talk freely about his war experiences. Mr. O'Toole is survived by one daughter, Miss Kathleen-who has been a most devoted muse and companion. The pallbearers were: Thos. Gannon, Theodore George, P. H. Gallagher, Sr., John Bean, Thomas Condon and Martin Cady. Interment was made in St. Gabriel's Cemetery." This file is located at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/md/allegany/obits/o/otoole-j.txt
