Mr. Stakem was a native of Lonaconing and had worked in the coal mines since a young boy. He had been ill for some time. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Loyal Order of Moose of Luke, Md. Surviving are his widow, Winifred Stakem, and the following children: Mrs. Rosalie Ryan, Akron, Ohio; Richard, Steubenville, Ohio; Patrick J., John and Isaac, Midland; and Frank, Leona, and Winifred, Lonaconing. He was a brother of Mrs. Margaret McDonough, Mrs. Katherine Broderick, Mrs. Winifred Miller, James H., Patrick A., Daniel J., and Edward F. Stakem, Lonaconing; Thomas E. Stakem, Midland; Mrs. Sarah Kelly, Cumberland, and Mrs. Veronica O'Rourke, Frostburg. The Rev. James C. Murphy, pastor, will conduct the funeral rites at St. Mary's Church Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery."
