Jordan. JORDAN, ELIZA (note: In one part of paper first name given as Juliet, in another it is given as Eliza.) Death of a Highly Esteemed Lady. As heretofore announced the estimable wife of ex-County Commissioner Benjamin F. Jordan, died at the residence of her husband, in the 7th district, on the 17th ult. A correspondent says: “It is with feelings of respect and sympathy, mingled with sorrow, that we record the death of Eliza, beloved wife of B. F. Jordan, who after months of patient suffering, quietly breathed her last on Wednesday, 17th. The family circle is broken, a loved one is gone, the husband and father as he enters his abode will miss a familiar face, the partner of his joys and sorrows has left him to continue alone life’s wearisome journey. The children as they pass from room to room will feel, as they notice things that belonged to mother, that she is no longer there to give them counsel and advice. Her accustomed chair is empty, and, as they glance at it they each with feelings of sorrow will say to themselves, ‘It was mother’s,’ and as they lay away articles for mementoes to be kept by them for long years to come, they will do so with feelings of the most profound respect and sorrow, for mother is not here to care for them now. Her mission is ended. Nobly and well has she fulfilled it, leaving behind her as an example of a well spent life. As a wife and mother she was quiet and unassuming, loving and beloved by a large circle of friends. The sorrowing ones have our heartfelt sympathies in their bereavement.” HEISLER, MARGARET At Govanstown, February 26, Margaret Heisler.
