Mr. Melvin Anders
  Mr. Melvin Leroy “Whitey” Anders, 61, of 113 W. Fifthe St., Frederick, died 
Monday, Jan. 26, at his daughter’s home.
  His wife, Mary Elizabeth Wolford Anders, died Dec. 31,1997.
  Born May 22, 1936, in Catoctin Furnace, he was a son of Charles H. Anders of 
Thurmont and the late Iona L. Stackhouse Anders.  
  He was a member of Thurmont Church of God.
  He was a retired carpenter in Montgomery County.  He was an avid fisherman.
  Surviving in addition to his father are a daughter, Gloria Pelypec and 
husband James of Frederick; a step-daughter Linda Harbaugh of Greencastle, 
Pa.; a stepson, Gary Peck of Waynesboro, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-
grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Eyler and husband Ronald of Lewistown; four 
brothers, Franklin Anders and wife Shirley of Frederick, Edward Anders of 
Washington, D.C., Robert Anders and wife Donald Anders of Frederick; and 
several nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kimberly Pett, and a great-
granddaughter.
  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the 
Thurmont funeral home of Robert E. Dailey & Son, 615 E. Main St.  Fneral 
services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Thurmont Church of God, 
Apples Church Road.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to 
services.  The Rev. Jeff Shaw will officiate.  Interment will be in Resthaven 
Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
