	...John McGavran, a native of Ireland, and a tailor by trade, settled 
in the colony of Maryland about the year 1755. He (John) was married to a 
Baptist lady named Margaret Hill, who bore him four children, named Mollie, 
Margaret, Mark and William. John McGavran died about 1770, at the age of thirty-
three years, and his widow married a Mr. O'Daniel, and later died in Fayette 
County, Penn. The children were all reared in the Protestant faith.
