All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* Kent County Maryland Wills Book 3 Pages 330 & 331 Will of William Comegys Will written ~ 8 December 1752 Will produced ~ 21 December 1756 In the Name of God Amen I William Comegys of Kent County being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do make do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say I give and Bequeath to my son William Comegys my dwelling plantation with all the lands which I now possess in the world and also my negro boy Will I give to my said son William I give to my son Isaac Comegys my negro man called Sam and my negro girl Philis I give to my daughter Sarah the wife of Jacob Boots my negroe named Maria with her child Ann I give unto my beloved wife my negroe girl called called Pegg and it is my will she shall possess and enjoy the dwelling house wherein I now live so long as she continues my lawfull widow which said negroe girl and her widowhood in my said Dwelling house she shall have over and above her legal third part of my Estate. I also give my beloved wife the three negroes she bought me namely Peter Jo and Beck which s'd three negroes I intend shall be included within her legal third part of my Estate as a part thereof and all the rest and residue of my Estate after my debts Legacies funeral Expenses and my wifes legal share is taken out I give unto my above said three children ~~~~~~~~~~~ William, Isaac and Sarah to be divided amongst them equally , share & share alike and I make and ordain my beloved Wife and my son William aforesaid Joint Executors of this my Last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and fifty six ~~~~~~~ Signed Sealed published and Declared William Comegys { his mark } By the said William Comegys as his last will and Testament in the presense of us Jonathan Hall , William Smithers , A ----- Cosden 21st December 1756 Came before me the subscriber all the subscribing witnesses to the within will and severally made oath that they saw the Testator William Comegys sign the within will and heard him publish and declare the same to be his last will and Testament & that at the same time he was to the best of their knowledge of sound and disposing mind and memory and that they subscribed their names as witnesses to the said will in the presence of the Testator & at his request . Sworn before J Nicholson Jr Depy Comm. Kent County I hereby Certifie that on the eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and fifty seven personally appeared before em the subscriber Easter Comegys widow and Relict of the Deceased William Comegys and renounced having any claim to the legacies left her by her husband Wm Comegys Dec'd in his last will & Testament in lieu of her right of Dower , but abides by her third part of her Deceased Husbands Estate real and personal Taken before J Nicholson Jr. Depy.
