QRYTEXT:I am looking for any connections to my great-great-grandfather who may have
come from Washington County, Maryland. George FAGUE and Anne JORDAN had a son, George
E. FAGUE, born 05-01-1830. I think the E stands for Eustace. He was born in Maryland
or Pennsylvania, and since there was a George FAGUE in Washington County, Maryland, I
have a strong suspicion he may have come from there. His name turns up in St. Louis,
Missouri, in 1877. He was a carpenter. He married Elizabeth YOUNG (JUNG) 06-06-1877
in St. Louis. One story says he knew her back east and followed her to St. Louis. I
am pretty sure she was from Pennsylvania, but it is possible he followed her from
Maryland. She was born 20-01-1844 to Jacob YOUNG (JUNG) and Elizabeth SUTTER. Please
e-mail if you think you can make a connection. I have discovered a lot of info on
FAGUE in Pennsylvania, but I can't make a connection. I know there were a number in
Maryland. A George FAGUE is mentioned in the history of Washington County in
Boonesboro. A FAGUE from St. Louis married a decendent of Daniel BOONE here. Maybe
there is an older connection? Another story has George living in Baltimore before
coming to St. Louis.

Washington County, MD around 1784-1786 timeframe. Specifically, Ambrose GEOGHEGAN
lived in Hagerstown from 1786 to 1806 and served on the Maryland General Assembly for
several years. There was also a John GEOGHEGAN who moved to Funkstown.
Both GEOGHEGANs were surveyors and owned their own shops for this business. Ambrose
wrote several letters to the local paper in Hagerstown and signed them as if he lived
at Montpelier which has proven to be a home and land owned by John BARNES during this
time frame. The 1800 Washington County census seems to indicate that Ambrose
GEOGHEGAN and John BARNES might have lived close by.
I would like to close the gap on these GEOGHEGANs and where they came from.
