He was born in Washington County, MD., the son of James and Henrietta Mills. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Whetstone Mills and these children: Ephraim, John, Abraham, Joseph and Mrs. Jacob Carty. Daily Mail April 22, 1908 Elizabeth Mills 1832-1911 Elizabeth Whetstone Mills was the widow of Abraham Mills. She died on April 9, 1911. John S. Mills April 14, 1858 – March 7, 1946 MILLS, John S., aged 87 years, died in his home in Uniontown, PA., Thursday, March 7, 1946. He was born in Clear Spring, MD. to Abraham and Elizabeth Mills. The late Mary Ann Davis Mills was his wife. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Mary E. Astleford of Uniontown; Mrs. Alta Luckey of Connellsville, Mrs. Addie Murray of Dunbar; George Mills of Bergholz, Ohio; William Mills of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Goldie Newcomer of Allison; Mrs. Maude Wolford of New Castle; Mrs. Helen Newcomer of Connellsville; James Mills of Wellington, Ohio; 37 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abraham Mills of Latrobe; Joseph Mills of Clear Spring, MD. Buried at Flatwoods Cemetery. The Morning Herald (PA) March 8, 1946 Mary Ann Davis Mills May 9, 1860-August 31, 1932 Mrs. Mary Ann Mills, aged 72 years, died Wednesday, August 31, 1932, in Uniontown, PA. She was born in Clear Spring, MD. to Henry and Mary McCarthy Davis. Besides her husband, John Samuel, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. W.H. Astleford of Uniontown; Mrs. Alta Luckey of Connellsville; Mrs. E.L. (Addie) Murray of Lemont; George Mills of Steubenville, Ohio; William of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Charles W. Newcomer of Allison; Mrs. I.M. Wolford of Cumberland, MD.; Mrs. Hobart Newcomer of Connellsville; and J.I. Mills of Uniontown. There are 36 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren surviving together with the following brothers and sisters: William and Amanda Snyder and Mrs. Addie Yost, all of Clear Spring, MD. and Mrs. Charles Eversole, Hedgesville, W.Va. Buried at Flatwoods Cemetery. Thursday, September 1, 1932 The Morning Herald (PA) Addie Mills Murray 1887-1965 Mrs. Addie Leona Rose Mills Murray, 77, died on April 4, 1965 in Connellsville, PA. She was born Aug. 22, 1887, in Clear Spring, MD., a daughter of the late John and Mary Davis Mills. Surviving are four sons: James, of Detroit, George, of Dunbar, Norman, of Florida and Milton of Cleveland; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Reninger of Uniontown and Mrs. Goldie Marnell of Dunbar; two stepsons, Elmer Murray of Pittsburgh and John Murray of Republic; five sisters: Mrs. Mary Astleford of Uniontown, Mrs. Alta Luckey and Mrs. Helen Newcomer and Mrs. Maude Wolford, all of Connellsville; Mrs Goldie Newcomer of Allison; and three brothers: George Mills of Bergholz, Ohio, William Mills of California, and James Mills of Oberlin, Ohio. Interment will be in the Normalville Cemetery. Connellsville Courier (PA) April 6, 1965 Joseph Mills 1869-1955 Joseph Mills was born in Washington County, MD, the son of Abraham and Elizabeth Whetstone Mills. He was survived by sons Thomas H., Joseph W., Roy, Raymond, Roman, Jesse, step-son Harry Mills, daughters Mrs. Daisy Staley and Mrs. Rosa Flanagan. (Predeceased by wife Barbara McCarthy Mills) Daily Mail April 18, 1955 Thomas Hillard Mills 1897-1978 Thomas H. Mills died on Aug. 23, 1978. He was born in Clear Spring to Joseph and Barbara Ellen McCarthy Mills. Survived by wife, Arietta Hull Mills, daughter Mrs. Violet Hovermale and son Roy Mills. Also survived by sister Rosa Flannagan, brothers Joseph and Roman Mills. Daily Mail August 24, 1978 Levi Ephraim Mills 1860-1941 Levi Ephraim Mills was born in Clear Spring, MD., the son of Abraham and Elizabeth Whetstone Mills. He was killed in a car accident on Nov. 21, 1941. He was living with his son, William A. Mills at the time of his death. Also survived by daughters, Mrs. Georgia Shafer, Mrs. Herbert Hays, Mrs. Marion Grandstaff and Mrs. William Artz and brothers, John, Joseph and Abraham.
