All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* 1788 Peter Teisher’s Will [Tisher, Tysher, Fisher] Washington Co., MD Will Bk A p 215, 216 In the Name of God Amen I Peter Teisher of Washington County and State of Maryland Yeoman being of old age but in good health and perfect memory thanks be given unto God, Calling unto mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following. I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors and as touching such worldly Estate whereof it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give Devise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give and Bequeath to my beloved Wife Franey the third part of my whole Estate during her life time. Secondly I give to my well beloved Son John Teisher my whole Estate whereon I now live, besides them three acres and an half which I did purchase of Abraham Trochsell, whom I likewise constitute and appoint to be the Executor of this my last Will and Testament and after his Mothers Death he shall keep to himself all the Household Furniture and every other article that resides upon the place. Thirdly I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Susanna Mary Gerloch the sum of Fifty Pounds which my Executor is to pay at the Expiration of three years from my Decease. Fourthly I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Grave the sum of five Pounds and to her daughter Eliza my Grand Child I give and Bequeath the sum of One hundred pounds but in case that Elizabeth Grave the younger should not live to be of Age her share is to go to my Son John Teisher, and if she should live she is not to Receive it until she comes of age. Fifthly I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Dorothea the sum of Ten pounds at the expiration of three years after my decease. Sixthly I give and Bequeath unto my Grand Child Susanna Teisher daughter of Jacob Teisher Deceased the sum of five shillings sterling when she shall be of age. Seventhly I give unto the Children of my Daughter Mary Baltzell Deceased namely sons Jacob Daniel and George Baltzell her daughters Elizabeth Susanna and Dorothea Baltzell each and every of them the sum of Ten pounds apiece. Eighthly I give unto Jacob Rittenour that place called prevention in Washington County and State of Maryland to live upon the same his lifetime but he shall have no power to rent it away to another or to convert it to any use that might prove destructive to it without the consent of my Executor and at his Death it is to be sold and the price of it Divided Equally amongst the children of my Daughter Susanna deceased by my Executor. I give over to my Son John Teisher to Execute this my Will and Testament and he is not to pay any Legatee or Legacies herein mentioned until the expiration of three years from my Decease and I do hereby utterly disallow and revoke all former Testaments Wills Legacies Executors Ratifying this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty third day of August Anno domini One Thousand Seven hundred & Eighty Eight Peter Teisher Signed Sealed & Delivered by Peter Teisher as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and sealing thereof Frederick Rohrer, Nath’l Morgan, Paul Christman On the back of the Original Will of the said Peter Teisher are the following Indorsements to wit Washington County Ss On the 3rd day of October 1789 came John Teisher and made oath that the within instrument of writing is the true and whole Will & Testament of Peter Teisher late of said county deceased that hath come to his hands or possession & that he doth not know of any other Certified by Thomas Belk Regr [transcriber’s note: Peter’s last name was spelled Fisher in Jacob Ridenour’s will and in one land record. It has also been spelled Tysher and Tisher in various records. He always signed in German. His wife’s name is spelled Franey, Fronica, Sfronia in various documents.]
