Death occurred before the arrival of Dr. John J. Knox. Dr. C. G. Crist, Adams county coroner, investigated and gave coronary occlusion as the cause of death. Mr. Sanders was born in Adams county, a son of the late Augustus and Mary (Thoman) Sanders. He was a veteran of World War I, having enlisted November 5, 1917. He served as a corporal in Company C, 11th Infantry, and was wounded while fighting overseas. In 1919 he received his honorable discharge. The deceased was a member of the Albert J. Lentz post of the American Legion; Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Gettysburg. Surviving are his widow, the former Marguerite Menchey; one son, Charles, Jr., at home, and two brothers, John and Mervin, both of Gettysburg. Funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. from the Bender funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ralph R. Gresh. Interment in the National cemetery.
