He was born in Oberdles, Hesserdarnstadt. Germany. August 22, 1826. On March 18, 1848, he married Amelie Rudolph at their former home in Germany. Mr. Daub established the wholesale and retail firm of John Daub & Sons. When he retired from active business life 20 years ago, the business was turned over to his two sons. Modenil D. and Theodore G., and soon after the firm name was changed to John Daub's Sons. During the Civil War, Mr. Daub almost completely supplied the subsistence and sanitary committees and the Soldiers' Home with supplies from his large business house. He was a director in the Third National Bank of Pittsburg, in the Pittsburg Insurance Co. and in the Allemania Fire Insurance Co. He was vice president of the old Pittsburg Gas Co. before it was sold to the Consolidated Gas Co. He is survived by his two sons I and one daughter, Mrs. J. T. Capel. His wife is also living.
