Mr. Moorhead was born in Indiana, but removed to Pittsburgh 35 years ago, where he first engaged in the grocery business and afterwards in the iron business. He was a successful business man, and it is estimated that he had accumulated a fortune of over $2,000,000. A Pittsburgh paper says: Mr. Moorhead was a thorough gentleman and a friend of struggling humanity. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and died in that faith. He was connected with several public institutions, being one of the Board of Managers of the County Workhouse and a Director of the Dixmont Insane Asylum. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Exchange National Bank. He leaves a wife and six children. The sons are well known in business circles, and his daughters are Mrs. Allan C. Bakewell, Mrs. L. W. Daizell and Mrs. Rev. Wm. Holland.
