Meinert, (16-Jun-1937 / 12-Mar-1992) Sister Sara Jean Meinert, 54, who was in the 37th year of her religious life, died of cancer yesterday in the infirmary of the Sisters of Divine Providence in McCandless. Sister Sara Jean entered the Congregation of Divine Providence from St. Mary Parish in Sharpsburg in 1954. Holding a bachelor's degree from Duquesne University and a master's in religious education from the University of Detroit, she served as both a teacher and religious education director in the Pittsburgh area. She is survived by her mother, Cecelia Meinert of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Madge Krysinski and Judy Meinert, both of Pittsburgh; and two brothers, James in Spain and Norman of Pittsburgh. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Provincial House of the Sisters of Divine Providence. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Providence Heights Chapel, with burial in the Sisters' Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Divine Providence Education or Retirement Fund, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Allison Park, Pa. 15101. Source: Pgh. Post-Gazette, Friday, March 13, 1992 ---------------- Sr. Sara Meinert Sister Sara Jean Meinert, a member of the Sisters of Divine Providence, Allison Park, for 37 years, died March 12 in the motherhouse infirmary. She was 54. She entered the congregation from St. Mary Parish, Sharpsburg, in 1954. She received a bachelors in education from Duquesne University and a masters in religious education from the University of Detroit. Sister Sara Jean taught in schools in Pittsburgh, St. Clair Shore, Mich., and Detroit. As a religious education director she worked in parishes in Pittsburgh, Warren, Ohio, and Grantsville, W.Va. She recently served as a member of a pastoral team in Willowick, Ohio. She is survived by her mother, Cecelia Meinert of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Madge Krysinski and Judy Meinert, both of Pittsburgh; two brothers, James of Spain, and Norman of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews. Lena gave birth to 8 children, only three lived, Rita, Leah and Edward Norman (Sara's father). Lena's sister, (Sara's aunt) Agnes MEYERS, b: 12-Feb-1879 in Wexford, PA, d: 1-Feb-1947 at 805 Penn Street, Sharpsburg, PA of coronary thrombosis. Agnes was single. All are buried in St. Mary's new Cemetery, Sharpshill, PA. There is no marker for either of them, only a plot marker bearing the name E. MEINERT. Lena MYERS father was John MEYERS, b: Somerset, PA; m: Agnes MEHL, b: Germany.
