Penney, aged 70, for 30 years a well-known resident of McKeesport, died yesterday morning at the home of his son, James A. Penney, 437 South Soles st., that city. For many years Mr. Penney was engaged in the coal business at one time with his father. He was a veteran of the Civil war and a member of Colonel Samuel W. Black post No. 59, G. A. R., of McKeesport. He was one of the oldest members of the First Presbyterian church of that city. His wife died about 15 years ago. Two sons, James A. Penney of McKeesport and J. O. Penney of Mt. Vernon, survive. John T. Penney of Pittsburg and Adam C. Penney of Gibsonia are half-brothers. J. V. Thompson, the coal operator of Uniontown, is a cousin.
