The upper portion of the head was crushed off and he is supposed to have been run down by one of the passing trains late Saturday night. The body was removed to the morgue where it was identified as Jacob ROGH, a resident of Natrona alley, Eighteenth ward. The coroner has been notified and will investigate the cause of his death. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Jacob ROTH, aged 33 years, single, driver, died October 28 1894, instantly killed on the AVRR; son of Jacob and Mary J ROTH (he from France, she from Ireland); born in the US; lived at 5138 Natrona Alley; burial in Allegheny Cemetery on October 30 1894. The Allegheny Cemetery site notes burial in Section 39, Lot 147. He is buried under the name of ROTH, but his parents and brother are buried under ROSS. Prior to 1900 census, family is listed as ROTH; 1900 and afterwards as ROSS. Census notes that he was born in Texas.
