Wood, one of Pittsburgh's pioneer coal operators and vice president of the Marine National Bank of Pittsburgh, died yesterday in his residence, 401 Graham street. Mr. Wood, who was 75 years old, had been ill for the past three years. He was horn in Woods Run, February 14, 1838, and since early manhood was engaged in the transportation and mining of coal. When the Monongahela River Consolidated Coal and Coke Company was organized. in 1899, Mr. Wood disposed of his holdings and retired. He moved to Pittsburgh, where he has since resided in the summers, spending his winters in his Southern residence, in Orlando, Fla. Mr. Wood leaves his widow, one son, F. H. Wood, and four daughters, the Misses Elizabeth. Anna and Jean Wood, and Mrs. B. W. Lewis, all of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Christ Methodist Episcopal Church.
