Brown buwbrown@concast.net July 21, 2008, 8:57 am Complaint made to W.H. Porter, Deputy Mayor of Pittsburgh. by Dora Geis that her son, Wiliam Geis, should be committed to the House of Refuge. William Geis was 9 years of age on Aug. 12, 1881; he is beyond her control. He has no father, he is in the habit of running away from home, and lying out at night, refusing to go to school. Also in the habit of lying & swearing. He will not obey her in any manner. She lives on Penn Ave., near 39th St., in the 16th Ward, City of Pittsburgh. Matthew Heyl deposes that he has had William Geis at his house and that he knows that he is beyond his mother's control. Testifies to truth of statement of the mother.
