Matt, prominent citizen here, died at his home Sunday morning at 3.15 o'clock following an illness of several months. Mr. Matt, a merchant, was a member of the state legislature from 1911 to 1913, had been internal revenue collector during the Wilson administration and a member of the Democratic state committee from Bedford county and at the time of his death was Bedford county HOLC appraiser. He was born in Cumberland, Md., on Dec. 22, 1860, and came to Everett at the age of 11 (14?). He began his career as a worker in a cigar factory shortly after he came here. Mr. Matt was a member of the official board of Everett Lutheran church, Masonic lodge, Mountain Commandery, Jaffa Shrine and Everett Lodge, I.O.O.F. His first wife, Mrs. Margaret Rebecca (Wagner) Matt, died ten years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Mellott-Matt; a step-daughter, Miss Gertrude Matt; two brothers, Frank and George, both of Cumberland, Md., and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Dipold and Miss Theresa Matt, both of Cumberland, and Mrs. H. D. Price and Mrs. Gustave Heintele, both of Parkensburg, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at the Matt residence at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. E. P.
