John Austin, a well known and respected resident of Hollidaysburg, died suddenly on Monday night at 11:15 o'clock, at his home, on Juniata street, of acute indigestion. Mr. Austin to all appearances was in the best of health, but during the evening complained of cramp in the stomach and retired early. Upon going to his room; his wife found him lying dead. Deceased was aged 64 years and had resided all his lifetime in Hollidaysburg. He was employed as a laborer at the McLanahan Stone Machine and Foundry works at Gaysport. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic church of Hollidaysburg. His wife and three sons survive: Thomas and Joseph, of Johnstown, and Walter of Hollidaysburg. The funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning. Interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday morning, August 27, 1918, page 8
