On Wednesday morning William J. Baker, a promising pupil of the public high school and youngest child of Mr. Samuel Baker, died of that terrible scourge, scarlet fever. Willie Baker, as he was familiarly called, was born on the 15th day of December, 1865, and consequently was within a month of being 15 years of age, having contracted the disease on last Saturday. He was a manly, intelligent youth, the idol of his family and a general favorite. He was gifted with a fine voice and the promise of being a great singer. He --- in several Sabbath school and other local exhibitions in Condron's Opera house, and was highly complimented. He was truly a noble and promising boy, and --- can only commend his sorrowing parents and friends to Him who has claimed him as his own. The funeral will take place to-day at 3 o'clock from his father's residence on Front street. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, November 11, 1880
