MARY ELLA BLACK One of Tyrone's older citizens who for half a century was engaged in the millinery business in Tyrone but recently had been a guest in the Methodist home, died this morning at 9 o'clock, death being attributed to a complication of ailments. She was born in Antis township on Aug. 21, 1858, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Funk) Cherry and was united in marriage with Howard F. Black, who preceded her in death. She resided in Tyrone and vicinity all her life with the exception of two years in California and one year in Florida. She conducted a millinery store in Tyrone for fifty years and was well known to most of the people of that community. She was a member of the First Methodist church, uniting with that congregation when a young girl. She became a guest at the Methodist home on June 17, 1926. Surviving are one brother, Melvin C. Cherry of Tyrone, and one daughter, Esther L. Black of Altoona. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Friday, April 19, 1935
