Bond, a former resident of this city and a Civil war veteran, died at his home in Chicago on February 10, of Bright's disease. He was born at Newton Hamilton, Pa., and was aged 73 years, 8 months and 16 days. He served two enlistments in the war of the rebellion, as a member of the 101st Pennsylvania volunteers. He was a car inspector during his residence in this city, when thirty years ago he removed to Chicago. He was twice married, and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bartley, of this city, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Rose, of Evansville, Ind., also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of the G.A.R. and of the Methodist church and was buried with military honors in Chicago. Altoona Tribune, Saturday, February 22, 1919, page 14
