Bonsell Pastor Spruce UMC Reverend Edward O. Bonsell, 69, of 523 West 13th Street Tyrone, Pa., died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital. Born May 16, 1931, at Tyrone, he was the son of Edward R. and Anna (Husak) Bonsell, and was married to Annis Dayton May 25, 1951, in Tyrone. Mrs. Bonsell survives. Also surviving are three brothers: Gerald E., Tyrone; Milton E., Altoona; and Richard H., Louisville, Ky.; one sister, May Gingerich, Altoona. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas I., August 18, 1999; a granddaughter, Candi, in May, 1991; and by one sister. The Reverend Bonsell was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School. He retired in 1990 as supervisor of production scheduling for PPG Industries, Tipton plant. He was a member of the Altoona District of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and had served as pastor of the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church for the past 12 years. He had previously served as pastor of the Glasgow Larger Parish for 22 years. He was a member of Coalport Lodge Free and Accepted Masons. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, 1650 Clay Avenue, Tyrone, with the Reverend Thomas H. Irwin and the Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be made in Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., 115 West 10th Street, Tyrone, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
