Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, January 6, 1885, page 4 Deaths Monday. J. Ross, an eight-year-old son of J. B. and Mary Bowles, who reside on Sixth avenue below Lloyd street, died Monday morning at ten minutes past 9 o'clock from paralysis of the heart, aged eight years, nine months and twenty-nine days. He was a very bright and interesting little child and the pride of his parents' hearts, whose loss is deeply felt by the bereaved ones. The little lad had just recovered from a very severe attack of diphtheria, when he was taken with paralysis of the heart, and being terribly prostrated during his convalescence from diphtheria, was not able to battle with the last complaint, and death finally claimed him as its victim.
