JOHN BOYER,

An aged and respected resident of the East Side, died of diseases incident 
to old age at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Calvin Black, 617 1/2 Eighth 
avenue, at 1:10 o'clock this afternoon.  The deceased was born in Halifax, 
Dauphin county, January 21, 1822.  He lived there until 13 years ago, when 
he came to this city.  Forty-eight years ago he married Miss Jane Keagle.  
She preceded him to the grave twenty-five years ago.  The following children 
survive: John D., Mrs. A. L. Ayers, Mrs. Calvin Black and Miss Maggie Boyer, 
all of this city; Mrs. A. P. Ettin, of Halifax, and J. P., of Pittsburg.  
Mr. Boyer was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church.  The remains 
will be taken to Halifax for interment on Saturday, but the hour has not yet 
been fixed.
