MRS. MARY A. BRANIFF.

  At 1.15 a.m. yesterday Mrs. Mary A. Braniff died of diseases incident 
to old age at her home, 907 Seventeenth street.  She was born in Adams 
county, April 5, ---, and was consequently over 86 years of age.  In 
1836 she was first married in St. Michael's church, Loretto, by Prince 
Gallitzin to John Walters, who died four years later.  In 1843, in the 
same church she was united in marriage to Patrick Braniff by Rev. 
Lemke.  Mr. Braniff died in April, 1892.
  The deceased has lived in Altoona for 40 years.  She is survived by 
two sons, John A., of Kansas City, Mo., and --as, of Salina, Kan., and 
by three sisters, Miss Jennie at home, Mrs. --- Lynch, of Altoona, and 
Mrs. Ber-- O'Hagan, of Frugality.  She was a --- Catholic and belonged 
to the Sacred Heart congregation.  Funeral services will be conducted 
in Sacred Heart Church at 9 a.m. to-morrow.  The remains? will be 
interred in St. John's cemetery.
