On Friday, December 5, Harry, the 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Davis, formerly of this city, now of Roanoke, Va., had his right foot so badly crushed under the wheel of a street car that the leg had to be amputated between the ankle and the knee. We do not know exactly how the accident happened. One account has it that he was playing about the car and fell with his foot under the wheel. A private letter from his mother says he was pushed off the car by a colored man or boy. After the amputation he seemed to be doing well, but a telegram to friends in this city says that he died at 4 o'clock on Sunday morning. We deeply sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Davis over the blow which has bereft them of their youngest child. He was a bright little fellow and a general favorite with all who knew him.
