About 4 o'clock Friday afternoon Mr. Samuel F. Hackenberg died at his residence, 818 Sixth avenue. He had been ill for some weeks past, but bore his sufferings uncomplainingly. Mr. Hackenberg was born at McVeytown, Mifflin county, September 8, 1845, and was consequently aged 53 years, 5 months and 9 days. For the past twenty years he had been a resident of Altoona and was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company in the capacity of a painter. His wife survives him, as does also one daughter - Miss Maggie. Mrs. Phoebe Wilson, of this city, is a sister. The deceased was an earnest Christian and for many years had been a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church. He was also a member of Logan lodge, No. 490, Free and Accepted Masons, and of Washington camp, No. 31, Patriotic Order Sons of America. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, February 23, 1899
