LINGAFELT Died at his home in Hollidaysburg yesterday evening at 7 o'clock. He was born in Canoe Creek, November 3, 1843, and when young engaged in the general merchandise business in Hollidaysburg. In April, 1879, he was appointed postmaster at the County Capitol, which position he held for nine years. He was subsequently appointed deputy prothonotary for Blair county and held that position up until his last illness. He was chairman of the Republican county committee several times. He was a member of the Lutheran church and leader of the church choir for thirty-three years. He was also a member of Juniata lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. On many occasions he was a delegate to the Republican state conventions. August 18, 1864, he was married to Lucretia J. Rhodes, and besides his wife, is survived by four children - Guy R., Frank J., Blanche K. and Helen M. Two brothers and one sister also survive - Harry L. of Omaha, Heb., John H. and Lillie K. of this city. The deceased had been in ill health for a year past and was incapacitated from attending to the duties of his office since October 18. He was confined to his bed but one week, when death ensued. He was an excellent citizen, esteemed by all who knew him. He was a kind and indulgent father, an obliging neighbor and a true friend. The funeral will take place at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon; interment in the Lutheran cemetery. Altoona Mirror, January 25, 1896
