Last night just as vespers were being sung in the St. John's Catholic Church, the spirit of one of the sisters in the neighboring convent was summoned to appear before its Creator. Sister Gabrielle, known in the world as Alice Maher, daughter of Mr. John Maher, who lives on Seventh avenue, between Thirteenth and Fourteenth streets, died of typhoid fever from which she had for a long time been suffering. She was an accomplished teacher of drawing and a possessor of rare musical talent. Notice of the funeral has not yet been given. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, May 7, 1880 SISTER GABRIELLE. The funeral of Sister Gabrielle, of St. John's convent, a notice of whose death appeared in yesterday's Tribune, will take place at 7 o'clock this morning.
