Car Inspector Thomas Nelson, of this city, was instantly killed last Saturday evening while in the discharge of his duty repairing something belonging to a car standing on the track a short distance below the freight depot. He was at work under the car, when several cars that were being dropped down the track struck the one at which he was working, giving him no time to escape and the result was that both of his legs were cut off above the knees. Death ensued almost immediately. He had been employed by the company for many years, and was a worthy citizen. He leaves a wife and several children.
