Nicodemus Lingers Thirteen Weeks After Suffering Injuries in Fall from Swinging Ladder Oliver S. Nicodemus, aged 37, of 230 Willow avenue, who suffered a fracture pf the spine in a fall from a painter's swinging ladder on May 22, died at 8.20 o'clock Saturday evening at his home after lingering for thirteen weeks. He was injured while engaged in painting the home at 417 Fifth avenue, He was on a swinging ladder at the side of the house and was working about twenty feet above a concrete walk. The loose end of the pulley rope slipped and Nicodemus fell to the ground striking his spine. He was taken to Mercy hospital where an immediate operation was performed. Several vertebrae were found fractured and pressure from the spine was removed. He was a patient at the hospital for eight weeks being removed to his home five weeks ago on Saturday. Oliver Stanton Nicodemus was born Jan. 29, 1886, the son of M. G. Nicodemus, deceased, and Mrs. Margaret Nicodemus. He was married in Altoona, March 18, 1918 to Miss Anna Strobaugh. Surviving are the mother at 230 Willow avenue, the widow and three sisters, Misses Myrtle, Ruth and Orpha and one brother, Ira Stanley Nicodemus, all of this city. He was engaged in the painting business in the city for a number of years and was a business partner with his uncle, H. N. Nicodemus since 1920. He was a member of the Grace Methodist church, Blair lodge of the Knights of Pythias and Veranda lodge of Odd Fellows. The funeral will be held from the family home Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock with services in charge of Rev. Samuel S. Carnell, pastor of the Fifth Avenue Methodist church in charge.
