MRS. GLORIA POWELL
Wife's Death Ends Marriage of 76 Years

  What was believed to have been the longest marriage in the state of 
Pennsylvania ended yesterday [21 Feb 1966] with the death of Mrs. 
Gloria L. Powell of Lower Brush Mountain drive, Hollidaysburg RD 2. 
Mrs. Powell, the former Gloria Sell, and Conrad R. Powell were married 
Jan. 1, 1890. They celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary Jan. 1. 
Mrs. Powell was born April 25, 1869, at Blue Knob, a daughter of the 
Rev. Brice and Elizabeth A. (Burns) Sell. Surviving, in addition to her 
husband, are two children, Brice of Hollidaysburg RD 2 and Mrs. Naomi 
Sipes of Newry; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was 
a member of the Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church, Altoona, and the 
Ladies Auxiliary to the BR&T. Friends will be received at the Thompson 
Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 7 to 10 p.m. today.
