Mrs. Martha Royer died at 8 o'clock a. m. on Friday, aged 79 years, 9 months and 10 days. The deceased was the widow of Samuel Royer who died in 1856. Mrs. Royer, so familiarly known as Grandma Royer, has resided at Springfield Furnace ever since the death of her husband, and all over the Cove her name is a household word for her many acts of charity. For half a century she has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and if ever a mortal deserved the title of Saint, Grandma Royer was one. So gentle, so kind and benevolent every one who became acquainted with her loved her at once. Her children were all at her bedside, excepting her son William, who is in Kansas City, and Newton, of Altoona. They are Mrs. H. L. Ake, Mrs. W. J. Spencer, Mrs. Ed. Hartman, Dr. Samuel Royer and A. P. Royer. Her brother, Joseph Patton, of Hollidaysburg, was also present. A train will leave Hollidaysburg on Sunday morning at 9:30 for the funeral by way of Williamsburg, leaving there at 10:15, arriving at Royer at 10:40, and leaving at 11:30 to bear the remains to Hollidaysburg, to be interred in the cemetery at that place.
