Jacob Shoemaker, a former resident of Altoona, died at his home in
Millerstown, Perry county, Sunday of last week, after an illness of a
few weeks.  The deceased was a native of Switzerland, a grape trimmer
by profession, and was known in almost every family in the farming
districts of Blair and Bedford counties.  He lived alone, though he
has a wife and daughter who reside in Altoona.  He was aged 60 years
and 6 months.
