All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ William Shuey William Shuey, 70, of 107 9th Street, Tyrone, died Friday, April 2, 1993, at 4:30 p.m. at the Van Zandt Veterans Administration Medical Center, Altoona, following an extended illness. He was born September 19, 1922, in Tyrone, the son of John and Susan (Detwiler) Shuey, and on September 5, 1947, at Altoona was married to Mary Jane Hitchings who survives. Also surviving is a brother, Eugene Shuey of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and a sister, Mrs. David (Peggy) Christine of Tyrone, and a half brother, Marion Louden, of Sinking Valley. Also surviving are two nieces and a nephew. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. #212, the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and the United Paper Workers Union. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a Technical Sergeant in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He retired March 31, 1985 as a lab technician from Westvaco Corporation with over 40 years of service. Funeral services for William Shuey will be held today, April 5, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor John Nalley officiating.
