ROBERT GIFFON SMITH.

  Robert Giffon Smith, a retired carpenter, died at his home, 1325 Sixth avenue, 
at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  He was born at Shirleysburg, April 7, 
1840.  He served in the Civil war as a member of company D, Seventy-eighth 
regiment, Pennsylvania infantry.  He is survived by his widow, and one son, M. 
W., and one daughter, Dora R.  Also by two sisters - Mrs. William Wareham, of 
this city, and Mrs. Levi Port, of Connellsville.  Interment in Rose Hill 
cemetery.  Please omit flowers.
