Stiffler Sr., 93, formerly of Country Manor, Duncansville, died early Thursday morning, Aug. 6, 1998, at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born May 24, 1905, in Maple Hollow, Duncansville RD, the son of the late Levi David and Linnie Mae (Keckler) Stiffler. He married Mary Ellen Grant Dell March 26, 1926, in Cumberland, Md. She died May 6, 1981. Mr. Stiffler retired as proprietor of a Mobil service station in Juniata. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Stiffler served with the Civil Defense during World War Ii and served in the Army. He enjoyed flowers, gardening and hunting. Surviving are four daughters: Janet Woods and Joan Greaser, both of Hollidaysburg, Mary Stombaugh of Nokomis, Fla., and Dolores Putt of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons: Donald C. of Altoona, Oakley R. Jr. of Hollidaysburg and Karl A. of Palm Bay, Fla.; a brother, Julius M. in Maryland; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Logan E., preceded him in death. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. STIFFLER - Funeral services for Oakley R. Stiffler Sr. will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home by the Rev. Marsha J. Bookhamer. Interment at Alto-Reste Park. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Sorge Funeral Home. Mr. Stiffler was of the Lutheran faith. Altoona Mirror, Saturday, August 8, 1998
