An Aged Resident of the Mountain City Passes Away. HAND BEEN IN HIS USUAL HEALTH Found Dead in His Home by His Son Yesterday Morning, Having Received the Final Summons During the Night. OTHERS HAVE BEEN CALLED HOME Full of years, respected by all who knew him, a Christian citizen has been called to his reward, and Mr. Ephraim Taylor lies dead at his home, 1120 Thirteenth avenue. Thursday evening Mr. Taylor appeared to be in his usual health, indeed for some time past he had been much better. Adjoining him at 1122 Thirteenth avenue, his son, W. F. Taylor, division operator, resides, and it was his custom each morning to visit his father, to see if all was well. An employe had not seen the elder gentleman yesterday morning and so informed the son, who went to the house and found the door unlocked. On entering he had gone no further than the dining room where he found his father's form lying on the floor, rigid in death. It is likely he was stricken early in the night, and the cause of death was determined to be apoplexy by the physician who was summoned. Mr. Taylor was born near Newburg, Huntingdon county, and was aged 75 years, 6 months and 12 days. He was a resident of Altoona since 1868. At one time he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, but for twenty years past had lived a life of retirement. His wife died August 5, 1889. He is survived by two sons - W. F., of this city, and Rev. S. J. Taylor, of Carey, Ohio. One brother is also living, Joseph Taylor, of Fulton county. Ever since its organization the deceased was a member of the Chestnut Avenue Methodist Episcopal church. Attentive to his church duties, an unassuming gentleman, a good citizen, he has gone to his reward. The funeral services will be held at his late residence Sunday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock and will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. H. C. Harman. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
