"Bub" Thompson, 88, of 502 Lindsay St. Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 1, 1995, at the Mercy Regional Health System. He was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Hollidaysburg, the son of William Finley and Ada (Snare) Thompson. He married Margaret Brantlinger on Oct. 24, 1931, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Thompson was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg. He retired as a bridge inspector for PennDOT in 1971 after 10 years service. Mr. Thompson was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a life member and past commander of Hollidaysburg American Legion Fort Fetter Post, a member and organizer of Hollidaysburg Ambulance Association and a member of Allegheny Club. Mr. Thompson enjoyed fishing and sports. Surviving are a daughter: Ann Sutcliffe of Newark, Del.; two sons: William F. of Hollidaysburg and Robert of Lancaster; a sister, Mary Hamel of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, William Brady of Hollidaysburg; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., August 2, 1995
