Miss Emma Torrens, well known in this city and a sister of James Torrens, of 420 Fifth avenue, died at her home in Philadelphia, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after several days' illness from pleuro-pneumonia. She is survived by two brothers, James of this city; William, of Washington, D.C., and these sisters: Mary Morgan, of Palmyra, N.Y., and Elizabeth, of Philadelphia. She was a devout Christian woman, and a member of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Torrens and his daughter, Miss Nellie, leave this morning for the east, where they will attend the funeral services to be held Saturday.
