George Whiting, one of the city's best known colored citizens, died at his home, 2020 Sixth avenue, at 10 o'clock last night of a complication of diseases. He had been in poor health for the past several weeks. Deceased was aged 50 years and had resided the greater part of his life here. He was for twenty-five years a waiter at the Logan House and also a well known caterer. He was a member of the Sixteenth Street A.M.E. church and is survived by his wife and one daughter, Helen, at home. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
