Wood, aged 73, of 900 South Kettle street, who suffered a fracture of the left hip Jan. 23 while returning to his home after completing arrangements for the funeral of his wife, Mrs. Edith Wood, died suddenly at 7.40 o'clock this morning at Mercy hospital where he had been a patient since his injury. Mrs. Wood died Saturday evening, Jan. 22, and Mr. Wood's injury prevented his attending her funeral, held a week ago today. He was born in Altoona on Aug. 17, 1870, a son of Joseph and Mary Ann (Williams) Wood, but was employed for a number of years in the Pittsburgh area, first at the Homestead steel mills and then as a member of the East Pittsburgh fire company. Returning to Altoona he entered the employ of the Mirror Printing company on Oct. 1, 1926, retiring on April 15, 1940. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John Barso of Columbus, Ga., and one sister, Mrs. S. T. McDowell of the city. Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. WOOD - Funeral services for Thomas W. Wood of 900 South Kettle street will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Gilden-Barton funeral home in charge of Rev. J. J. Thompson.
