POTTER - MYERS - St 5:15 A.M., September 14, in the First Lutheran Church, by Rev. Henry Baker, Mr. David L. Potter and Miss Emma C. Myers, all of this city. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, September 14, 1880 A Happy Event This Morning. This morning at 5:15 o'clock there occurred in the First Lutheran Church a pleasant social event - the marriage of Mr. David L. Potter, Business Manager of the TRIBUNE, and Miss Emma C. Myers, sister of R. F. Myers, the popular livery man. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a goodly company of the relatives and friends of the bride and groom by Rev. Henry Baker, pastor of the church. Mr. Potter is one of our most estimable young gentlemen, and in all the walks of life has conducted himself in an exemplary manner, winning the confidence and esteem of all with whom he has been associated, either socially or in a business point of view. Miss Myers is among Altoona's fairest and most winsome daughters, and worthy so good a husband as Mr. Potter will prove himself to be, judged by his past life. The happy pair, after the consummation of the marriage ceremony and receiving the congratulations of their friends, repaired to the depot and took passage on the mail express for the West to spend the honeymoon among friends and view the wonders of the land on the other side of the Alleghenies. For this young couple we have the warmest sympathy and the best of wishes. May their pilgrimage through life be peaceful and prosperous, and its evening be as auspicious as its beginning. And "Through days of light and gladness Through days of love and life, Through smiles, and joy, and sunshine, Through days with beauty rife; Through days of doubt and darkness, In fear and trembling breath; Through mists of sin and sorrow, In tears, and grief, and death - The Lord of life and glory, The King of earth and sea, The Lord, who guarded Israel, Keep watch 'tween me and thee."
