R. Whitehead, 918 Third avenue, and Miss Grace Fagley, a popular young lady of Williamsport, were united in marriage at the parsonage of the First Presbyterian church Sunday evening at 7 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Dr. Charles Hogg. Mr. Whitehead is a senior in the Altoona high school and is a young man of sterling character, possessed of a host of admiring friends. His bride is one of Williamsport's charming young ladies, and is well known in the younger social set of that place. After an extended honeymoon of eastern cities, Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead will return to this city and take up a temporary residence at 918 Third avenue. Their matrimonial bark will be heavily freighted with the best wishes of the friends of both. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday Morning, December 13, 1916 CHARLES WHITEHEAD IS VICTIM OF JOKER Young East Side Man's Reported Marriage to Be Probed by Tribune Charles Whitehead, a young man residing at 918 Third avenue, and the Altoona Tribune, were on Tuesday night made the victims of a practical joker or some unscrupulous person when the latter reported the young man's marriage to Miss Ruth Fagley, of Williamsport. The report was without foundation as was discovered by the Tribune yesterday. The publication of the announcement caused the young man and his parents considerable annoyance yesterday. The reported bride is a cousin of the young man and has quite a number of friends here and the announcement will likely result in considerable humiliation. The Tribune believed that the source of information was entirely correct but an investigation yesterday disclosed the fact that it was the victim of a joker someone knowing the movements of the Whitehead family and their friends. The Tribune was notified of the marriage over the telephone and immediately the Whitehead home was called for a verification of the nuptials. The reply came back that the report was correct and then came the publication. Yesterday it was ascertained that not a call was answered at the Whitehead home after 10 o'clock and that some other person on the line came in on the line and verified the marriage. The Tribune has placed the matter into the hands of the Bell Telephone company and with its aid will endeavor to discover the "practical joker" and the joke will surely be turned if his identity is discovered. There is a law under which such "jokers" can be punished and it will certainly be used in the punishment of this one. Altoona Tribune, Thursday Morning, December 14, 1916
