Friday, 17 Mar 1905 Volume 39, Number 10 Mrs. James Easly Josephine Scanlan Easly, wife of Attorney James C. Easly, died of gastric fever last Friday evening at her home in Carrolltown. Her death was very unexpected, she having seated herself in an armchair after supper and was found dead by one of her daughters a few minutes later. She had been ill for three or four weeks but was not in a critical condition. The deceased was born in Carrolltown in 1846, being fifty-nine years old at the time of her death. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scanlan of Ebensburg. In 1868 she married to James C. Easly in Carrolltown and had since made her home in that town. Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by the following children: George Easly of the South Side; Rose Marie of San Antonio, Fla., Henry and Joseph of Hastings; Lizzie, wife of John Hurley of Carrolltown and Gertrude, Agnes and Walter, at home. Her father, who was county surveyor for thirty-five years and a Justice of the Peace for fifty years, died in 1893. The funeral will take place at 9 o'clock from St. Benedict's Catholic Church at Carrolltown. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
