Friday, 22 Jan 1909 Volume 43, Number 4 Fatal Injury Follows Sixty Years in Mine Patton, Jan. 21 -- David McNain, a man who has been employed in the soft coal mines for almost sixty years, was caught in a fall of rock in the mines near this place and so badly injured that he died at the Spangler hospital. Mr. McNain was seventy years of age. He had begun work as a trapper boy at ten years of age and had worked underground almost constantly since that time. He was known as a very careful miner but in some way he was caught by a fall of rock and two of his ribs were broken when he was otherwise badly crushed and bruised. Mr. Murray attended him and at once directed that he be taken to the hospital, but it was impossible to save his life.
