Friday, 28 May 1909 Volume 43, Number 22 Hastings Lad Drowns Hastings, May 25 Allan Peterson, twenty years old, of this place, was drowned Saturday night in the Monongahela river near Millboro, Washington County, Pa. Young Peterson had gone to Millboro to work for the Labelle Coal Company and was to have started on his new position on Monday. Saturday night about 11 o'clock, accompanied by his uncle and two other men, he started in a boat from the Greene County side to cross the river. Young Peterson was unaccustomed to boats and soon after the small craft left the shore, he, in some manner, became overbalanced and pitched into the river. He sank instantly.
