V. Stanton, aged 52 years, 1 month and 14 days. He was born in Delaware, and in early youth was brought with his father's family to Lancaster, Pa. In 1840 he went to Bedford County where he learned to be one of the best millers of his generation, and was there married to Miss Mary J. Lightfoot. In 1840 he came to this county and bought the "Stanton's Mills" property, where he resided until his death. During a visit to his son residing at New Stanton, Westmoreland county, he took a chill, and though quite unwell, attempted to return home. When he arrived at the residence of another son, in Johnstown, where he died, two physicians were called in, who pronounced his disease pneumonia. He was there visited by his wife and nine of his twelve living children and was comforted in his last moments by their presence and kind attention...
